Sponsorship of a Tour Bus to the Minnesota World War II Memorial Dedication Ceremony

The Arlington Lions and Sibley East Area Lions along with other Sibley County Lions Clubs paid for a tour bus to transport Sibley County World War II veterans and widows to the dedication of the Minnesota World War II memorial on the state capitol grounds. Lion Club members prepared a lunch for the attendees and accompanied the bus to assist the guests of honor.  A full Quicktime movie is available for viewing at this Youtube site.  This movie is rated 5 stars by YouTube viewers!!!

Junior High and Senior High Leo Clubs

Lions Dan Hislop and Pat Liebl serve as advisors to the two clubs.  The Leos are also governed by an advisory committee composed of members of the Green Isle Lions, Sibley East Lions Club, and the Arlington Lions.  The Leo Clubs could not function without the service of Lion advisors.

Eyeglass Collection

Lions help to conserve sight by providing usable eyeglasses to children and adults throughout the world. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 153 million people have uncorrected refractive errors (near-sightedness, far-sightedness and astigmatism). Refractive errors can be easily corrected with eyeglasses, yet millions in undeveloped nations lack access to basic eye care services. Lions have recognized the urgent need for corrective lenses and continue to fight the problem with the Lions Recycle For Sight Program.

Donated eyeglasses can help millions to experience corrected vision for the first time, enabling them to read, attend school, gain employment and take care of their families. It is estimated that Lions clubs collect more than 20 million glasses each year, and eyeglass recycling is one of Lions’ clubs most popular activities. Although the program was officially adopted by the association in 1994, Lions have collected glasses for more than 80 years.
