For the past two years, the Arlington Lions Club and the Arlington Sibley East Area Lions have been in discussion to merge the two clubs. The purpose of the merger would be to create a single club, which would be a stronger club and better serve the Arlington area.
This question was put to a vote in October 2007 and was approved by both clubs. The next step occurred in November 2007 when the request to merge was put before the District cabinet, which unanimously approved the merger.
A meeting to discuss housekeeping details will be held in January 2008.
The new club will be called the Arlington Lions Club, which honors over a half century of history with the Arlington Lions. The outstanding traditions of the Arlington Sibley East Lions will be incorporated in the new club.
